In this kind of interpreting, the interpreter translates the original message once the speaker has finished. If the speech is very long, the speaker stops every now and then to allow the interpreter to translate. To ensure a faithful rendering of the speech, the interpreter takes notes during the original speech so that he/she does not have to rely solely on memory.
A meeting with consecutive interpreting is 80 to 90% longer than a meeting without it, because each original speech is followed by the interpretation.
• Requires: clear sound, a table or support for taking notes and a microphone
