The language into which the interpreter is able to translate flawlessly is called an active language. To do this it is not only necessary to perfectly comprehend that language, but also to convey all the subtleties of the original, using the most precise terms as well as impeccable pronunciation and intonation.
Unlike other professionals, AICE interpreters have a perfect command of at least two active languages, one of which is Spanish.
The language which the interpreter understands perfectly and is able to translate into one of his or her active languages is known as a passive language.
